In my world, people are people, not ‘candidates’. Someone may be a Hiring Manager with me today and pursuing an opportunity in 3 years- I avoid the word candidate, as everyone is a potential candidate and likewise everyone is a potential hiring manager. I simply prefer, professionals. I work with top professionals- not a ‘pool of candidates’, ‘active candidates’ or ‘passive candidates’. Perhaps the same ‘tomato/tom-a-to’ argument but I believe words matter. In case you are wondering, I also don’t ‘submit' candidates to my clients… I present them. Something about the word ‘submit’ makes my skin crawl too. Thanks for listening- Michele
